1. Sidewalk Chalk.
- Draw seven boxes like on a calendar using sidewalk chalk.
- Start at the box on the left and write Sunday.
- Write the names of the days of the week in order in the remaining boxes. Only write one day in each box. When you're done writing the days.
- Go back to the first box.
- Hop into the first box and say the name of the day written there.
- Then hop to the next box, say the day, and keep going.
- See if you can you make it all the way to Saturday without making a mistake?
2. Hopscotch.
- Draw seven boxes like on a calendar using sidewalk chalk.
- Start at the box on the left and write Sunday.
- Write the names of the days of the week in order in the remaining boxes. Only write one day in each box. When you're done writing the days.
- Go back to the first box.
- Roll a rock on to one of the boxes. Pretend that the day the rock sits on is today.
- Say, "____ is today. Yesterday was ____. Tomorrow will be ____."
- If you're correct, hop in each box except where the rock is at rest. Jump over that box.
- When you get to the end, turn around and go back to the beginning, but stop to pick up the rock.
3. Play a game. (You will need note cards or pieces of paper, a pencil, and a dice.)
- Make a card for each day of the week using the note cards, paper, and pencil.
- The youngest player picks a card from the pile and rolls the dice.
- Then that player fills in the blank using the day of the week card and answers the question that matches the number that was rolled on the dice.
- Example: If you roll a one, you answer number one. If you roll a two, you answer number two, etc.
- Here are the six questions for the game:
- Today is ____. What was yesterday?
- Today is ____. What will tomorrow be?
- Yesterday was ____. What is today?
- Tomorrow will be ____. What is today?
- Yesterday was ____. What will tomorrow be?
- Tomorrow will be ____. What was yesterday?
- If you get the answer right, you get 10 points. When you're finished, put your card back in the pile. If you are playing with someone else, it is the next player's turn. Play continues until someone has 100 points.
Remember, if you do one of these activities, please take a picture and post it on your portfolio in Class Dojo. We'd love to see it.
