1. Play a Game. (You will need a bunch of nickels, something to put the nickels in, and three dice.)
2. Tracing Hands and Counting Fingers.
1. Play a Game. (You will need a bunch of nickels, something to put the nickels in, and three dice.)
- Get a bunch of nickels and put them in a bag, a bowl, or a reused container.
- The oldest player goes first.
- On your turn you will.
- Roll three dice.
- Add the numbers on the three dice together.
- Take that number of nickels out of the bag.
- Count the nickels by five.
- If you are right, you get five points and that is the end of your turn.
- The game is over when one player gets to 100 points.
- Record yourself counting by fives to 100 and post it on your portfolio in Class Dojo.
2. Tracing Hands and Counting Fingers.
- Trace your hand on paper 20 times on different colored construction paper. If you don't have construction paper, you can use colored cardstock or regular colored paper. If you don't have colored paper, you can trace your hand on white paper and color them with markers, crayons, or colored pencils.
- Cut out the 20 traced hands.
- Count the fingers that are one traced hand. Write the total number of fingers that were on one traced hand.
- Do the same thing for a second traced hand. Count the fingers. Write the total number of fingers on two traced hands on the second hand.
- Do the same thing for three hands, four hands, five hands until you've used all of the traced hands.
- Can you make it all the way to 20 hands?
- Practice counting the hands by fives.
- Record yourself counting the fingers by fives and post it on your portfolio on Class Dojo.
