1. R-controlled Search
- Find a book.
- Look at each page.
- Make a list of all the R-controlled words in the book on a piece of paper.
- Take a picture of your list and post it on your portfolio in Class Dojo.
2. R-controlled Tic-Tac-Toe (You will need note cards, paper, a bag, a pencil, and another person.)
- Write ten to twelve R-controlled words on the note cards and put them in a bag.
- Draw a Tic-Tac-Toe board on a piece of paper. It looks like this (#), but it isn't tilted.*
- Now you're ready to play. The tallest person goes first.
- On your turn, pick one card from the bag. Read the word.
- If you are correct, you draw and X or an O on the Tic-Tac-Toe board.
- That is the end of your turn.
- The person who gets three Xs or Os in a row is the winner.
- Record yourself playing this game and post it on your portfolio on Class Dojo.

Counting Dimes
1. Watch this video from Scratch Garden to review counting by tens.
2. Watch this video from Hey! Guess What? and Dot Dot Toys about counting dimes.
3. Now, it's your turn to count dimes.
- Go to Sheppard Software to play Fruit Splat.
- Make sure you pick dimes.
- When you're finished, e-mail your results to your teacher.

For those of you who are unable to do the activities above, try one or more of these activities instead.
1. Play MONEY GRAB! (You will need a bag of ten dimes.)

- The person with the shortest legs goes first.
- The first player grabs some dimes out of the bag.
- The player counts the dimes and then says this sentence, "___ dimes is worth ___ cents."
- Example: If Pam grabs 4 dimes, she would count them by tens and say, "4 dimes is worth 40 cents."
- If the player is correct, the player gets 10 points and puts the dimes back in the bag.
- If the player is not correct, the player gets 0 points and puts the dimes back in the bag.
- The game is over when a player gets to 110 points.
- Take a picture of yourself playing this game and post it on your portfolio in Class Dojo.
2. Play BINGO. (You will need a bag of ten dimes, a bingo card, and objects to mark your bingo card.)
- You can download and print a bingo card for each player, or you can make your own card.
- The person with the longest feet goes first.
- The first player grabs some dimes out of the bag.
- The player counts the dimes and then says this sentence, "___ dimes is worth ___ cents."
- Example: If Alf grabs 3 dimes, he would count them by tens and say, "3 dimes is worth 30 cents."
- That player can mark the spot on his/her bingo card that says 30 cents.
- That player cannot mark anything if the coins were not counted correctly, or if his/her card doesn't have a box that says 30 cents.
- Then the next player would take a turn.
- The first player to mark three boxes vertically, horizontally, or diagonally wins the game.
- Take a picture of yourself playing this game and post it on your portfolio on Class Dojo.
